I can barely walk in a straight line and balance let alone be able to balance while doing yoga. However, I love it. So when I heard that CNY Yoga will be holding Stand Up Paddle Board Yoga, I had two reactions: 1) COOL! and 2) I have to step up my game in regards to my balancing abilities.

According to 315 Yoga, SUP (Stand Up Paddleboard) Yoga improves your yoga practices, you will slow down through postures you take for granted on a stable surface, you find focus and not become easily distracted, and train muscles not always used as you use your core to stabilize and smaller muscles to gain balance.

For $40 on Saturdays and Sundays, with classes twice a day, you can drive over to Green Lakes State Park and participate. Registration is required in advance. The $40 includes use of a Glide O2 Lotus Paddle Board, a Sawyer Storm Paddle, PFD (personal flotation device,) whistle and a leash. The price does not include the park entry fee.

This is what you can expect according to the 315 Yoga website:

Start with an introduction to Stand Up Paddle Boarding on land. You will learn PFD/Leash usage, Paddle Grip, Stroke, Turn Technique, how to get up and down, and what to do if you fall. We will help you launch and you will paddle to warm up the body before beginning our 60 minuets of yoga and end with a relaxing savasana and paddle back. All experience levels are welcome.

You have to be at least 18 years of age to participate and you need to know how to swim.

Come to the class prepared to get wet, with all valuable items left behind. The instructors will take photos for you and will be posted on the 315 Yoga Facebook page.

The 90 minute class is held both Saturdays and Sundays at 7:30 am and 9:30 am. Book your class here.
