Do you drive the arterial on a daily basis? If you do, then you have seen the constant progress and change that is being made. Well this weekend a new installment has made a huge step to being finished. The pedestrian bridge has been connected! Once this pedestrian bridge is fully constructed it will make crossing the busy roadway a lot safer for people and for drivers. This bridge is just one of the many things we can still expect from this North-South arterial project slated to be totally complete July 31st, 2017.

Jim Piccola of the New York State DOT says,

The pedestrian bridge is a big milestone in the first contract which included the bridge and the extension of Champlin Ave and Lincoln Ave. With both Warren Street and Sunset Ave being closed off to vehicular and pedestrian traffic, this bridge will be vital to people in the neighborhood for traveling safely across the arterial.

Jim hopes the deck portion of the bridge will be ready to be poured on Monday and once that is done, it will take about 14 days to settle, barring any really inclement weather. Once that concrete is poured and set, they will put the fencing up on it. He anticipates the bridge will be complete in 3-4 weeks.
