Have you ever had those moments where a billboard, sign, or just something catches your eye, but you can't figure out why it looks a little... off? That's exactly what we found on this sign in Marcy.

Every day on my way to work I pass the sign in the photo below. Maybe it's because I look at it every day, or maybe there's another reason, but this sign always catches my eye. There's just something I couldn't place for the longest time, something that makes this sign look a little different:

...It looks like a normal sign, right?! I started wondering why it looked so odd to me. That led me to start paying attention to a bunch of different signs on my way to work:

I thought maybe it had something to do with the lowercase letters on the sign. Aren't most street signs written in all capitals?

Apparently not:

Then I figured it out. I understood why it doesn't look quite right. Look at these other town and city signs:

Do you see it? It's the "Of" on the sign. The "O" is capitalized. It seems like most signs I've seen either have "OF" completely capitalized as in the Rome sign, or both letters lowercase, as in the New York Mills sign. Maybe it's just something I haven't paid much attention to, but have you ever seen a sign like this? It's weird how our brains can get so fixated on something so trivial as a street sign and know something is different, but not be able to place it. And it's such a weird thing to notice... Our minds are interesting, that's for sure.
