What’s With These ‘Jack and Jill’ Parties That I Keep Hearing About?

I'm not going to lie, I've never heard of a 'Jack and Jill' party until I started living in Central New York. I guess it's not something that has really caught on in Michigan yet, but it's such a good idea I think it will.

I finally found out what a 'Jack and Jill' party was (and how it works), this weekend when I attended my first one. First off, there are a few different versions of 'Jack and Jill' parties - showers, fundraisers, and the 'Jack and Jill' bachelor party. This party was a 'Jack and Jill' fundraiser party.

It was a great event with both the bride and groom, and it helped raise money to pay for some of the wedding costs (we all know weddings can get expensive, pretty fast). It was a great party with live music, raffles, food, and of course drinks (and plenty of them).

When I first walked in, there was a table set up to pay admission, get raffle tickets, and even buy tickets for this giveaway/raffle-type-deal (that I had never seen before).

There was a table set up with tons of gift baskets, and little bags taped up - one for each of the gift baskets. You could buy a sheet of tickets, and put your tickets in the bag that corresponded to the gift basket you wanted. Then at the end of the night, they would draw a ticket from each bag, and that person won the gift basket.

There was also a live band playing during the party. It was the perfect addition to make this gathering really feel like a party. It got the crowd going, and got people out of their seats, dancing, singing, and all around having a good time.

The place was packed! I have to say, I think the fundraising efforts went perfect. What a great way to hold a fundraiser, and have the friends and family of the bride and groom all together to have an awesome time.
