The National Weather Service has released a pretty amazing fact about the tornado that struck near Oklahoma City on May 31. The storm has been declared the widest tornado ever known.

The twister was on the ground for a full 40 minutes, traveled a distance of 16.2 miles and was, at its widest point, 2.6 miles across.
