7 Things the City of Utica Should Invest In
Utica has a lot of attractions and features, but there are a few things that would make the city even better.
Between the Utica Zoo, the AUD for Comets' games, the Adirondack Scenic Railroad, and many, MANY shops and restaurants - Utica has a lot to offer. There are a few things though, that would make the city better - whether it's a new business we should have open up, or a problem the city faces that should be fixed. Here's our Top 7 things we would like Utica to start investing in.
Some of the roads in Utica are falling apart SO bad. Not only is it a hassle to deal with, but some of the giant holes around town could really do some damage to your vehicle. Better roads would definitely make the city better.
Utica already has the Munson-Williams-Proctor Arts Institute, the Oneida County Historical Society, the Adirondack Scenic Railroad, and many other interesting places (that secretly teach you things). A planetarium would be a nice one to add to that list.
Sure, Central New York has a lot of little ice cream shops, but sometimes you just want a 'Blizzard.' Maybe a Peanut Buster Parfait?
Better Public Transportation
We've heard a lot of complaints about trying to take the bus in Utica. Most people say it takes way too long - Like the bus schedules and routes could be better.
Is this true?
If so... Maybe it's something our city should look into fixing.
Something that has a little bit of everything - Indoor skydiving, maybe an arcade, a go-kart track - Things like that. A center that has tons of activities for the whole family. It would be the perfect place for kids to go after school, and families could go there together on the weekend.
These are starting to pop up all around Central New York, but could we get one right in downtown Utica?
If you don't know what these rooms are - You get locked in a place and you have a time limit to get out. There's different puzzles, locks and keys, and a lot of mind-power needed to help you 'escape.' Watch the video below to see what they're like...
More Snow Plows
We understand the DPW does the best they can when the roads get bad, but they could use some extra help. We get enough snow and ice in this area, that we should have a massive fleet of snow plows. Maybe we could get some more?
