Bad Weather Brings Down Power Lines and Showers Sparks in Washington Mills

The winter storm that has been dumping snow all across Central New York brought down power lines overnight in Washington Mills.

Allen Stalker was traveling down Mallory Road in New Hartford coming in to Washington Mills. As he was driving he witnessed a lightning strike and the sky turned orange. What he saw next was, as he said, an "absolutely amazing sight."

Stalker says it was very windy and assumes that is what brought down the power lines. He says, "it was crazy bright and the power line was sparking and arcing with the ground." You can see the video captured by Stalker above.
