Meet Mia Palmer, a heart attack survivor and a member of the American Heart Association's 'Go Red Survivor Class.'

Mia woke up in the middle of the night with chest pains. She went to take something for the pain, but then it really hit. She knew something was seriously wrong. Mia called 911 and was rushed to the hospital.

At the hospital, Mia says it was very chaotic. They were doing blood work, rushing around... A lot was happening. And in all that chaos, they found a blockage.

Mia woke up in the ICU. The doctors told her she had had a heart attack. It was devastating news to hear. She couldn't believe it - She was only 44-years-old.

Mia was a smoker, and she believes her smoking is to blame for her heart attack. Since this incident happened, she has quit smoking and has been working on getting healthier in her life.

She explains her reason for joining the American Heart Association's 'Go Red Survivor Class' in the video at the top of this page. If you would like to honor Mia as a survivor, you can donate here.
