Life gets stressful, obviously. But there is something really easy, really quick, and completely free - that will make all the difference.

When Your Brain is Out of Order

Sometimes the 'go-go-go,' of life doesn't seem to stop - appointments to keep, bills to pay, places to be, and things to do - it can get pretty overwhelming. All it takes is one bump in the road, to throw everything off and make you feel like your sinking.

Well, there is one thing you can do no matter what's going on - whether you're stressed because you feel like you just don't have enough time, or you're stressed because you actually already missed a deadline (or appointment, or whatever). If life is getting out of control, there's one thing you need to do.

You need to stop. Stop everything. Turn off the brain, and listen to some music. Sounds absolutely ridiculous, right? But it's true. Even if you think you have no time to waste listening to a song or two, you have to do it.

Music has a way of letting us lose ourselves. You can switch off all that's going wrong, and just get away for a few minutes. And when everything is falling apart around you, that's what you need to do.

Find a song that speaks to you in the moment - something that fits what you're going through. If you need some reassurance that you can handle everything, maybe listen to Rachel Platten's 'Fight Song,' or Alicia Keys' 'Girl on Fire.' If you're just having a terrible day, maybe listen to Daniel Powter's 'Bad Day.' Songs like this will take you away from the moment, and let you escape until you can regain your composure, regain your stride.

Next time you feel like life is getting overwhelming, take a step back. Stop. Turn on some music and let it take over for a few minutes (you have to listen to at least one full song, though). Then when you go back to whatever is stressing you out, you'll feel better, even if it's just a little bit. You'll feel better enough to tackle what's stressing you out. Try it next time, just see what happens!
