Everyday Features in Utica You’ve Probably Overlooked
We all know the Gold Dome Building or the Utica AUD, but how familiar are you with these other features in Utica you probably pass by every day?
Okay maybe you don't pass them by every day, but they are still features that unless you're looking for them or looking closely, you probably won't even notice them. The video (above) shows just a few of these unique features "hidden" in Utica. Of course there are a lot more, we just wanted to look at a handful for right now.
Do you know about the "hidden" historic marker on Oriskany Street? It's pretty cool to check out and read over, but in the summertime when all the trees are in full-bloom, you won't be able to see it. There is a little path that leads up to the marker, but if you're not looking for it, you'll probably miss it.
What about all the monuments and statues along the parkway? Sure you've probably driven past them, but do you know what they represent or why they're there?
Or how about the "key" of Utica? It's right on the corner of Genesee Street and Oriskany Street (West). I'm sure you've seen it before, but have you taken a moment to actually look closely at it and see all the details?
See these features in the video (at the top of this page), as well as a special feature in the Bagg's Square District. This "feature" was actually spotlighted on our "Haunts and Legends Series."
What other interesting features around the Utica Area have you noticed that you think people overlook? Is there something on your way to work that you pass by and wonder if people notice it, too? We want to hear about it! You can leave a message in the "comments section" at the bottom of this page and tell us where it's at. We would love to go check it out.
