A generous CNY dog trainer is responding to a controversial post by another trainer by offering free training for pit bulls.

In CNY, the question of whether pit bulls are appropriate pets is stirring a powerful debate, with advocates on either side passionately defending their beliefs.

These cold Central New York winters don't just have negative health effects for humans. Dogs, cats and other animals can also suffer injuries such as hypothermia and frostbite.

Anytime there is an animal in need in Central New York you can almost guarantee that the amazing volunteers from Lainey's Army are somewhere close by to help pick up the pieces. They are in constant need of donations and support, but things are about to get very challenging as they will soon take in about 50 dogs from a hoarding situation.

Donna Ray is a local musician who has written a special song in honor of Lainey's Army founder, Kim Strong, titled 'With An Angel's Help.' A music video was also produced and the song's purpose is to promote awareness of the local animal rights group and to help raise funds for their efforts.

There are many details that are still unknown about the tragic story of the 19-year-old, Lucas Leonard, who was allegedly beaten to death by his parents Bruce and Deborah Leonard of Clayville. The family had a number of pets in the household and Lainey's Army, a local animal rights group, was involved with the rescue of these animals.

Lainey's Army is a central New York organization banded together for the sole cause of fighting animal abuse. Recently they decided to March from Rome to Albany in the hopes of infiltration state legislature and impacting key decision makers.
