Every year, it's so great to see what the New York State Fair comes up with for their butter sculpture. But it's even better to see it being created.

Have you ever seen a time-lapse video of the butter sculpture being created? It's pretty cool to see how a bunch of butter can turn into such a masterpiece. It definitely takes a creative mind (or two) to put the whole sculpture together. But did you know that the sculpture isn't just butter? You'll see in the video (above) that they have to create wire molds to get the sculpture to stay where they want it.But even with the wire "outline," the sculptors still have to give the butter form and details. It's pretty awesome when it all comes together.

At the end of the video, you can see the finished product of the butter sculpture (if you haven't seen it yet). But do you know the story behind the sculpture? Well, the sculpture is in honor of New York State Troopers, but it was actually a Marcy farmer's photo that inspired the creation. The photo is of two state troopers holding a little calf who was born at the fair last year.

Even though the fair is going on for a bit longer, we're already a little curious what they'll create next year. Wonder if they'll take requests? If they do, what would you like to see the butter sculpture be? Or what would you like the "theme" or "focus" to be? Let us know - Leave us a note in the "comments section" at the bottom of this page, or leave us a comment or message on our Lite 98.7 Facebook Page. We would love to hear!

And in the meantime, we hope you enjoy the rest of the Great New York State Fair. There's a lot to see and a lot to experience, from the delicious foods, the carnival rides, shows and attractions, and everything else in between.
