It's fall and that means it's hockey season! The Utica Comets start their season this Friday and you can catch the game for free.

Unfortunately, you won't be "catching" this game at the Adirondack Bank Center at the Utica Memorial Auditorium - If you haven't gotten tickets to the game, you're too late. Those tickets sold out a while ago.

But that doesn't mean you can't cheer on the Utica Comets and watch the game from the comfort of your own home.

"AHLTV" is offering a weekend "freeview" from October 5th through October 8th, which is opening weekend for AHL games, not just the Utica Comets. So if by some chance you're a huge fan of the Springfield Thunderbirds or the Grand Rapids Griffins, you could watch those games for free, instead.

But if you're like a lot of us in Central New York and want to cheer on our Utica Comets as they take on the Toronto Marlies, you can watch the game through AHLTV, and stream it through your TV, your laptop, even your iPhone or Android.

As with many "deals" like this, you'll probably have to sign up for AHLTV to get the free preview, and then cancel the subscription before it charges you. But still... If that's all it takes to watch the Comets' season opener for free, it sounds like a pretty good deal. And who knows?! Maybe you'll like streaming the game and being about to cheer on the Comets from the comfort of your couch, and want to keep your subscription. Either way, you can get more information on this "freeview" weekend and AHLTV by visiting: WatchTheAHL.com

Happy hockey season and let's go Comets!!
