Everyone knows how exciting it is to watch fireworks with all your friends, but which city in New York is the best place to celebrate July 4th? The answer might surprise you.

A recent WalletHub survey of the 100 largest cities in the US, ranked which were the best in terms of actual Fourth of July celebrations, affordability, safety, weather and other nearby attractions and activities. You would think New York City would be somewhere near the top of that list, but the truth is the Big Apple just isn't the best.

According to the data analysis, Atlanta wins the top spot in the USA. San Francisco came in second overall. And coming in at #3 is our friends on the western side of the state - Buffalo.

WalletHub listed Buffalo as #1 in terms of actual Fourth of July celebration. Buffalo also received high marks for "Attractions & Activities" as well as "Safety & Accessibility".

Where did the city that never sleeps fall on the list? New York City's overall rank was #13 in the country. As you can imagine, it received it's lowest marks for "Affordability" and "Weather".

So if you're looking for a quick trip out of town for something different this Independence Day, head west to the "city of good neighbors" - Buffalo.
