Local Fire Departments to Participate in Chili Contest at Chili-Palooza
Chili-Palooza is not only about Chili and Music, it’s also about supporting our local fire departments. The Best Chili Contest was created for the local fire departments to compete against each other and raise money for each department. Each sample of chili will cost $1.
The fire departments will keep all the proceeds from the Best Chili Contest. The first place team will win $750 and the second place team will receive $250. Below is a list of the local participating fire departments participating at Chili-Palooza!

With "Chili-Palooza" just days away, Saturday, October 15th at the Herkimer Country Fairgrounds in Frankfort, you probably want to know more about the event. You may have heard that several fire departments will be competing with their chili recipes, and there will be live entertainment. But, after eating all that chili, how are you going to cool down your pipes? The answer...beer!

CCR Tribute Band Bayou Boys to Head Chili-Palooza
Canada's Bayou Boys, a CCR tribute band, will make their Central New York debut at Chili-Palooza, Saturday, October 15th at Herkimer County Fairgrounds. The Bayou Boys hit the road in 1989 and have toured all over Canada, the U.S, and Finland. (Yes, Finland!)

Syracuse’s Split Rock Quarry – CNY Paranormal
In 1918, World War I was raging, and any company that was able to be adapted to a military need was eager to. One such company was the Solvay Process Company in Syracuse. They owned a limestone quarry outside of Syracuse in the town of Onondaga, and were willing to convert this quarry into a munitions factory to help the war effort. This quarry was known as the Split Rock Quarry.

Flooding Closing Roads & Schools in Central New York [Thursday Sept. 8, 2011]
The remnants of Tropical Storm Lee are leaving their mark on Central New York. A number of roads and schools are closed this morning due to the heavy flooding in the area.
