Have you noticed in stores recently, cotton candy is being sold along with the marshmallow peeps, filled eggs, jellybeans, and other Easter snacks? Why is that?

When did cotton candy become associated with Easter? When you picture this sugary, fluffy snack, most people tend to think about county fairs and carnivals, or summer baseball games. So why now Easter?

There are a few possible answers for this change.

First of all, some people have started to use cotton candy instead of the plastic or paper 'grass' that is put in the bottom of Easter baskets. Instead of using something that is just going to get thrown away, people have started to use this 'decorative' treat.

Some like to add it to all the other chocolates and treats - Just another 'sweet' to switch things up. Jellybeans, marshmallow peeps, and those candy eggs have been a go-to treat for Easter. Cotton candy gives a break to the same old, same old.

The last answer for this change has to do with marketing and selling of the cotton candy. If you have a product that only seems to sell during certain times, you'll try to change your target so you can sell it more often. Look at all the candies that come out with 'holiday' flavors for Christmas. Or take a look at candy corn - It's known as a Halloween snack, but they have changed their colors and 'flavors' so they could sell them during the holidays, Valentine's Day, and now Easter as well.
