This Saturday, the Utica Comets will not be wearing their usual jerseys. Specially designed uniforms will be used for the game, then auctioned off afterwards for an amazing cause.

Get your tickets for this Saturday's game at the Utica AUD as the Comets take on the Syracuse Crunch, sporting some very unique uniforms. It's all for their "Save of the Day" night, and it isn't your average "Thruway Throwdown" game. Sure, it's going to be one heck of a game, but after the game is over, you could own your own piece of the Utica Comets.

Not only are the uniforms going to be auctioned off, but Thatcher Demko's goalie helmet, and pads (which he designed) will also be available. The money from the auction is going to benefit the Thea Bowman House, a not-for-profit organization that helps low-income families and at-risk children in Utica and the surrounding area.

The jerseys are black with neon green. As for the goalie helmet, it's also black and neon green, but Demko designed little stick figures playing hockey, on the sides of the helmet. There is also the "Save of the Day" logo on the top of the mask. Demko says he was really excited to design the equipment, but even more so to help out a great cause. "For me, I wanted to do something that kinda went back to my roots, and trying to remember what it's like for me when I was a little kid playing hockey and being a big hockey fan. So, we got some stick figures on either side; they're playing hockey out on the outdoor pond, so it kinda resonates with the whole idea of the younger kids and that passion that comes from being a kid and just loving the game."
