Trust me, I've been in a lot of situations where I have to purchase something for someone in a White Elephant, Secret Santa or just a general gift exchange where I had absolutely NO idea what to get them.

I am someone who is all about experiences. I really don't like giving material things because I think that experiences help create memories for someone to cherish forever.

With 2020 the way it has been, it seems like giving experiences isn't as easy as it normally is - but there are some material things that you CAN give to create an EXPERIENCE.

Some of my go-to for gifts when I'm in a predicament and I'm not sure what to get, are themed baskets. . My three favorites are movie night baskets, spa day baskets, and cooking baskets.

Movie Night Basket

Who doesn't love movies?! Here's some things you can buy for a movie night basket.

  • A retro popcorn bin or bags
  • Microwave popcorn
  • Some classic movie DVDs or a subscription to Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime
  • A blanket
  • Some movie theatre candy

Spa Night Basket

Maybe you have person in your life who likes to practice self care with a nice, relaxing evening. Here's some items you can get for a spa night basket.

  • Bubble Bath
  • Epsom Salts
  • Slippers
  • Face Mask
  • A Bottle of Wine
  • A Magazine Subscription
  • A loofa
  • Body Lotion

Cooking Night Basket

Some of my best memories are cooking in the kitchen with my loved ones. You can create a cooking night basket with (really) any kind of themed meal idea. For the purpose of this post, we'll do a pasta theme.

  • Some artesian pastas
  • Sauces of different varieties
  • Colinder
  • Maybe some cheeses?

These ideas allow people to have an experience with their gift. They may love having that movie night in with a loved one. Maybe that spa night is just what's needed after a stressful year. And that cooking night may bring some of the best food they've ever had - and you'll be the one to thank.
