It's a position many CNY women reluctantly find themselves in: re-entering the workforce after a long hiatus. Their resume needs polishing, their skills need updating and, most of all, their confidence needs a boost. The Women's Employment & Resource Center does all that and more.

WERC is a non-profit organization serving women in need of job readiness services in Herkimer, Oneida and Madison Counties for more than 16 years.

According to Stephanie Eghigian, Executive Director of WERC, women are often forced to go back to work after an unexpected event in their lives. It could be a divorce or the death of a spouse. In some cases, women are heading back into a workplace that is drastically different from the one they left years ago.

That's where WERC steps in. WERC provides women with all the skills they need to rebuild their lives. Their skilled trainers teach the women interviewing skills, computer skills and will even provide them with professional clothing to wear to their job interview.

According to one of WERC's clients:

"WERC got me back on my feet and back in the work force! I learned that it wasn't too late to start over and choose a new career path. Thanks to WERC I'm proud to say I am working in a job I love and I am proud of myself again."

On September 28, 2017, WERC is hosting its annual Awards Luncheon at the
Yahnundasis Golf Club, New Hartford, NY.

The luncheon is an opportunity to acknowledge and honor several outstanding women in the Mohawk Valley, and is also an important fundraiser that helps support the services WERC provides. Proceeds will fund essential career counseling, training and job readiness services enabling our participants to gain employment and become contributing members of their community.
