As usual there is so much to do in the Utica area this weekend. Here's a rundown of 5 cool things to check out on Saturday, 10/14/2017.

Saturday, October 14 - noon til 3.

They did it over the summer and they're doing it again Saturday, Octoberfest style. The city of Utica parking lot next to the Stanley will be filled with food trucks - Come Fry With Me, El Jefe's, Holy Smoques BBQ, Utica Lemonade, Swifty's, Utica Coffee Roasters, Snoop Dog, Kitty's. Plus there will be live local music from The Old Main Duo, The Other Guys (Mike Peek & Rocky Graziano), The Cathy Timian Band and The Brian Mulkerne Band. High school bands from around the region will be in town for an exciting show on the field at New Hartford high school. Bands from Rome, Westmoreland, New Hartford, Liverpool and Mohonasen will be performing for this New York State Field Band Conference event.

The New York State Cask Ale Festival is back for its second year at Woodland Farm Brewery. You'll get a chance to sample cask ales from many fine New York State breweries, including

  • 16 Stone Brewpub (Holland Patent)
  • Adirondack Brewery (Lake George)
  • Binghamton Brewing Co. (Binghamton)
  • Copper City Brewing Co (Rome)

The brews they'll be featuring are VERY limited edition and this may be your only chance to try them. The event will take place outside, rain or shine, at Woodland Farm Brewery in Utica. You can get tickets on their Facebook event page.

If you're looking for Halloween fun for the whole family, the New Hartford Shopping Center is the place to be. There will be Shriner Clowns, hay rides and train rides, face painting, photo opportunities and more. Donate a canned good for the Food Bank and you'll get a free pumpkin for painting. There are also big prizes to register for in the stores.

Central New York Citizens in Action are launching a new event "celebrating Progressive values through music, art, and family fun" (CNY Citizens in Action). The activities will be taking place at 3 locations in the city of Utica:

  • Kopernik Park (corner of Eagle St/Genesee St)
  • DeSales Center (309 Genesee St)
  • Utica Public Library (303 Genesee St)

Admission is free, and they will be offering kids activities and crafts with BB Designs, 2 stages of live music featuring a wide variety of styles, food trucks, short films and local artists, along with community discussions and exhibits.
