Art and Music, Bowling, Yoga & More: 10 Central New York Events to Check Out This Weekend

PRICE: $10 admission, children 12 and under get in free
The Great New York State Fair is back with something for everyone: from carnival rides, shows, attractions, vendors, delicious and unique foods, to animals, free concerts, and competitions. Don't forget to try the new "Milky Bun" and see a show at the Chevy Court.

If you want to spend your Saturday rocking out to some great live bands, the "Small Town Throw Down" is perfect. See groups like Lonesome Dove, Eddie Arcuri, Last Left, Tompkins Drive, and a handful of others. Music starts at 11am at the Ilion Snowdrifters.

Spend your Saturday enjoying live music, amazing artwork, kid's activities, local vendors, and food. Music from "The Old Main," "TNT," "The Jukebox Gypsies," and many others. Tons of vendors with everything from candles and potpourri to glasswork and collectables.

How would you like to do yoga on a rooftop overlooking Utica? In Bloom Yoga (in New Hartford) is hosting this special yoga event at Ocean Blue this Saturday. You'll have to get your tickets in advance if you want to guarantee yourself a spot, though. Tickets available at InBloomYogaStudio.com

You get to bowl three games at King Pin Lanes in Rome, and it also includes pizza and a drink. There will also be basket raffles and a 50/50. Money raised benefits Trooper Husky Rescue and Sanctuary, a non-profit organization in Oneida.

Experience a staged train robbery, something you would expect in the Wild West, while you're a passenger on the Cooperstown & Charlotte Valley Railroad. Will the bandits get away with all the loot aboard? You'll have to ride the train to find out. Reserve your spot by calling (607) 432-2429.

Local favorites "Squirrel Murphy" will be performing a free show this weekend at Vernon Downs Casino. You'll find them at the "Ring Eyed Pete's" Stage.

Utica Brews on Court Street is holding their 4th "Laugh Contest." Hear some of the best stand-up comedians in our area. And the best part? The audience gets to pick the winner, so make sure you come prepared to laugh your heart out.

PRICE: $5 or $2 with a non-perishable food item to support our veterans.
Come out for a wonderful afternoon of softball (at Murnane Field in Utica), all while bringing awareness to the sacrifices our veterans have made for us. Gates open at 12:30pm, with the opening ceremonies at 1pm. First game will start at 2pm, with the second game following right after. Food and beverages will also be available at the concession stand.

Directors and performers will be presenting scenes and musical numbers from some of their upcoming shows.
