Maybe you ate too much during Thanksgiving (who didn’t?) Don’t be too hard on yourself. This time of year is full of great meals with even greater portions. Here are a few simple ways to help you fight gaining weight this Holiday Season.

1 – Use A Smaller Plate

With all the great food, it’s going to be nearly impossible to say no to all the sweets and treats. Well, you don’t have to say no. Use a smaller plate, and swear off a second helping. That way you can still have everything, just in a smaller portion size.

2 – Don’t Skip Dessert!

Yes, you did read that right. Seriously, don’t skip it. If you sit there watching your family and friends enjoy dessert, while you have an empty plate and a mouth drooling, you’re more likely to over-indulge later. Have that piece of pie, or a few cookies, just don’t overdo it.

3 – Go For A Walk

After a big dinner, instead of lounging in front of the TV, suggest going for a walk. Check out the Christmas Lights around the neighborhood, or head to the mall and do some window shopping. The best thing you can do is keep moving. It will help you feel better too, if you did overeat.

Even if you overeat, gain a little bit of weight, forget to exercise, don’t stress out about it - it’s the Holidays. Besides, that’s what New Year’s Resolutions are for, right?
